Software studio
Software that feels likesomeone made it.
We design and build apps for Apple platforms. Empty repository to App Store. Interface, motion, and the code underneath — one studio, no handoff.
Three things. Done properly.
Steppe is small on purpose. A short list of things we are good at beats a long list of things we would be willing to attempt.
Apps, end to end
Interface, motion, and the code underneath. One team, start to finish. Most software gets worse at the seam where design hands off to engineering — we don't have that seam.
Design systems
Tokens, components, and the rules that hold a product together as it grows. Not a sticker sheet — a system the build enforces. The test is the tenth screen, not the first.
Character and motion
Mascots, personality, and motion that carries meaning instead of decorating. A character is either a working part of the interface or a liability. Not much sits in between.
How we decide things.
- 01
Motion has to mean something
A loop says “this is still happening.” A finite animation says “this just happened.” Confuse the two and a character stops reading as alive and starts reading as broken.
- 02
Measure before you believe your eyes
What a screen looks like it is doing and what it is actually doing come apart more often than anyone expects. The fix for a misread is a measurement, not a stronger opinion.
- 03
One accent, held
Restraint is what makes a colour read as deliberate. Two accents mean neither is one. The same logic governs radii, weights, and how much a screen is allowed to say.
Where we are now
Steppe LLC is an independent software studio building for Apple platforms. Our first app is in development and has not been announced.
We build and publish our own software rather than selling hours. The only review that counts comes from the people using the thing.
If we are not right for something, we will say so in the first conversation. That is cheaper for everyone than finding out in month three.
For press, partnerships, or anything else, hello@steppehq.com reaches a person, not a queue.
